(The first MBBS among the Chins and second FRCS all over Myanmar)
He completed FRCS (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgery) with “A” Grade from Edinburg University, England in 1955. Though he was invited by many Eu countries to serve their countries (with a handsome pay + Luxury life), he returned to his own country and joined as Surgery Specialist in Yangon Hospital.
U. Nu (Prime Minister of Union of Burma) and the head of Health ministry were amazed when he (Dr. Ni Khuai) and his father submited their application to serve Chin state. The then Health minister even asked them thrice whether he (Dr. Ni Khuai) really want to work in Chin state.
As the concerned authority granted his request, he started serving as head doctor at Falam Hospital in 1957. For Dr. Ni Khuai, there is no working timetable, but he was ready 24 hours for his patients. He respect his noble works and treat all his patients equally. He gave no preference wehther the patients are un-educated, rich or poor. Due to his dedicated works, the 25 bedded hospital in the then capital of Chin state was increase upto 4 times. While he start joined Falam hosptal, he was the only doctor in state capital’s hospital, but due to his hard working, there were more than 10 specialist + 11 junior doctors, 9 sisters, 11 blue staff and 10 train nurses. There after, Falam Hospital was known as Specialist Hospital of Chin state.
It is his motto To Serve Others.
During his time, patients in every villages in Chin state believe that they will surely be healed if they are admitted to Falam hospital or if they get Dr. Ni Khuai’s treatment. The patient’s fith and believes were not in vain. Though most of the Chins are poor, all patients have a chance to get treatment as Dr. Ni Khuai was kind enough to heal them with free of cost. More over, he gave them free medicine, lodging (Dr. Ni Khuai host patients from remote villages in his own residence), gave them free food (same food his own family used to have), clothings, moral encouragement and even luch and money to those poor patients when they were discharged.
Not only from Falam, but patients from every corner of Chin state, Mizoram, plain Myanmar and so on... Dr. Ni Khuai was kind, polite and gentle on the patients as well as on his working staff. Man junior doctors working with Dr. Ni Khuai become famous and outstanding doctors.
For his noble works and kind services, he was awarded Wunnah Kyaw Htin title. His father (Wunnah Kyaw Htin Major Kap Cong) was also awarded the same title, therefore he was a good son who qualified to follow his father’s foot steps.
He gave his time, strength, capacity, heart to his beloved fellow Chins, but still, some corrupted employee gave wrong report to the authority, which make him need to transfer. The whole community in Falam, the Chin state capital and other parts of Chin state knew very well that he was an ideal doctor. They all knew that he was kind on every one an never corrupt.
Even a grown up men and women can’t help their tear when they heard this bad news (Dr. Ni Khuai have to move out of Chin state). Due to the people’s request, he cannot moved out easily. Individual, organizations, church elders, community elders etc.... visit Dr. Ni Khuai and beg them not to leave them. Every villager of the high way (Between Falam, Chin state and Kalaymyo, Sagaing) stands on the road side with flowers and culture dress to show their sorrow of loosing such kind noble man. Though he (Dr. Ni Khuai) knew those corrupted men (who report him), he gave no bad response or attempt to get revenge. More over, he even prepared a special dinner for them with prayer.
When he was working in Mandalay Hospital and other parts of Myanmar. People said, “Thanks to the Chins, for giving us such a good, expert, kind and ideal doctor.”.
